How To Get On Google First Page

I understand what it feels like, to struggle to get to that glorious first page on search engines,

especially when it comes to The Big G.

I mean you have taken your time and put in so much effort to build your website/blog and try to create quality content consistently but yet your appearance on the search engines seems so elusive.

This can definitely be very frustrating and discouraging, and I know this because I was once in this same boat, until I discovered this simple method that has helped us to overcome this hurdle.

That is why today, we want to help you discover how to get to Google first page without sweating it out any longer.

The good news is…

You can do it!

All you need is to master these simple steps we will guide you through today, using the right keyword tool, and you will see yourself getting on that first page.

It gets better, because if you can successfully get your pages ranked in Google, then you can definitely get them on other first pages of search engines like yahoo, bing and other ones alike.

And need I remind you, that with ranking, comes more generation of free organic traffics to your site which at the end can easily convert to revenues.

Which I believe is always the endpoint to our struggles, aside from being helpful to others.

So let’s take a look at the necessary steps needed to conquer this mountain.

Basic SEO ( Search Engine Optimization)

Search engine optimization is really very important when it comes to getting your posts on the first page.

If you are new to this, it will seem very confusing and difficult, at least I know it was for me, until I went through the training course at Wealthy Affiliate, which put things into perspective and helped me understand things pretty clearly, and thanks to them Our posts now appear on first pages of search engines.

I will share the exact same techniques with you here so you can achieve same results, as I mentioned earlier.

But before you talk about ranking your pages on Google, you need to make sure you meet up with some basic requirements.

So go through this list and if you are already in line with it, then proceed to the next step, but if not, then you will have to start implementing them to further boost your chances of ranking.

How To Get On Google First Page

1. SEO Ready Website

Before you even think of gaining rankings for your website, you have to first make sure your site is optimized for search engines, this is basically how you can ever obtain rankings.

Depending on where you have your site hosted, some platforms will provide you with Seo ready websites, like the online platform we use, they provide us with an All-In-One Seo ready websites and all you need to do is activate it.

While others may want you to pay for that as an extra feature, but you can also do this yourself by installing the Seo plugin either the All-In-One or Yoast Seo and then activate this, and do the necessary tweaking and you are ready to go.

2. Content

Like they always say, Content is king!

The quality of your content matters greatly to your ranking, this is one of the greatest determinants of where your post will appear in search engines.

If you write articles that are shallow and probably not engaging or helpful to your readers, then you won’t see your contents on that first page.

But if by some magic you do, visitors who come to your site and don’t find it helpful or engaging enough, will consistently leave before they even get started, that will definitely give a negative impression to the search engines about your website and may eventually lead to you losing that spot.

All I am saying, in essence, is that at all times, make sure to provide content that will really help solve peoples problem so that they can keep coming back for more.

Your Contents should at least be about 1,000 to 1,500 words or even more, depending on your niche though.

3. Frequency Of Production

We’ve been taught that google loves fresh contents, hence the need to produce as much as you can, for the more content you produce, the more traffic your site can generate and your better chances at ranking.

As a newbie, you might find it difficult to shun out contents steadily, and sometimes it may be due to time constraint, but if you can try to produce at least 3 contents every week, that will be a great start, and then gradually pick up from there.

4. Consistency

You should always try to be consistent with publishing your contents.

Choose a particular day and time that works for you and stick to it.

if you can produce 3 posts a week and publish each one by 1 p.m in the afternoon, you should always try to work within that schedule, and Google will love you more, and this will increase your chances at ranking too.

Once you are working in line with the above mentioned, then follow these simple steps to achieve your rankings.

Like I mentioned earlier, knowing and doing your Seo right will help you achieve that desired ranking, and below we have listed for you step by step guide to follow in order to achieve this.

This comes in two sections, On-Page Seo and Off-Page Seo. The On-Page is carried out within your content, while the off Page are other things you can do outside your content to further boost your chances at ranking

On-Page SEO

Keyword Research

This is where your ranking steps begin, without the right keywords, you may see yourself facing very difficult competition that will not allow you to get those rankings.

To avoid this, you will need to go with what we call the “low hanging fruits”

This means choosing keywords that have very low competition, as you already know, the lesser the competition, the higher your chances at ranking.

Make sure you also chose keywords that people are really searching for.

Using this low hanging fruit in your keyword research, the following rules apply

a. Choose a keyword that has at least 30 Average monthly searches, but anything higher is ideal if the QSR ( competition) is under 100.

b. Aim for less than 100 QSR (competition), since these are other available pages you will be competing with to gain ranking for a specific keyword.

You should always search for keywords with lower competition because the lower the competition, the better your chances at ranking

c. Your Keyword Must Make Sense, it is important to make sure that your chosen keyword makes grammatical sense, it must be meaningful.

For example, I want to write a post on Baby Organic Clothes.

I type in this keyword in my keyword research tool, by the way, we use Jaaxy keyword research tool which is incorporated in Wealthy Affiliate.

For us, this is the best keyword research tool in the industry (our opinion though) it comes with WA’s premium membership, but you can also get 30 free searches to try it out.

The image below shows the result of my search, and as you can see there are lots of keywords displayed, and each one has its own average monthly searches and competition

You can see my first keyword is the first on the list, that on its own can be a great keyword to write about because it meets the rule.

Over 30 average searches, less than 100 QSR and makes sense, but looking at the other keywords, we do have better ones that can give us better chances at ranking.

so I decided to go with the one marked x.

It is definitely better than my first keyword, as it has over 1,200 average searches, just one competition and of course makes sense

Comparing all these keywords, you can definitely see that the one marked x seems to be our golden nugget

How To Get On Google First Page

You can choose to use this or even try to expand the search on it to see if it can offer you more options, though I don’t think anything will be better than having just one QSR ( competition)

But have in mind, that sometimes having zero, one or very minimal competitions could be that you are competing with authority site(s) which will be very difficult

To be sure this is not the case, you can type your final keyword into google search engine and see what comes up, if its authority sites, then its best to do a further research or go with one of the other keywords that follows the rule

you can watch the video below to understand better how keyword research is done using the low hanging fruit

How To Get To Google First Page

Quality Content

I have mentioned this earlier in this post, but here is where it falls in, because once you have your keyword sorted, the next thing is to write your content, making sure it’s of high quality and at least a thousand words long.

Meta Title

Always make sure to include your keyword in your title description. It’s advisable to use the H1 tag for this

Meta Description

This is what appears on the search engines when your content is displayed, some people choose to automate this and let google pick a preferable portion from their content to display

But we believe its better if you do this yourself, as it gives you control to decide what exactly you want people to read, that summarises what your post is all about.

Keyword In Your Content

Make sure your keyword appears at least once or twice in your post.

Preferably in the first and last paragraph, but most importantly write your post naturally.

Avoid keyword stuffing, as this may end up hurting your site. Google doesn’t like keyword stuffing, so write your content naturally

Use beautiful and quality images within your post, and most importantly fill in the Alt tag.

When doing this, make sure to include your keyword in your Alt tag

Internal Linking

This is a link from one post in your site to another. When writing a post, always try to use words that can create that opportunity to interlink them with one another,

Google loves it when someone can move from one of your pages to another

External Linking

This one is a link from your site to another site, this can mostly be to authority websites

Depending on what you are writing about, you can always link to other sites, most especially for referencing purposes

Embed videos

Using videos on your post can help boost rankings, if you do not produce your own personal videos, you can always look for related once, probably from YouTube, and embed them in your post.

Embedding video is not necessarily a must, but if you have the opportunity to do that then you can.

But if you don’t feel comfortable doing so, or you can’t find any related video to what you wrote about, then don’t sweat it.

You can also consider this off-page SEO to better boost your chances, every little that can be done, can increase your chances

Off-Page SEO

Search Console

Once you are done writing and publishing your quality content

Always try to submit it to the search Console, as this will help your contents get indexed faster, and once indexed, your chances of ranking faster increases.

If you do not have a Google search Console account, you can register for one free at

Social sharing

Share! Share! Share! Once published, and after submitting to search console, you should endeavour to share your contents on Social media, this helps your site gain more exposure and brings in more engagement to your site

Remember the more engagement your site has, the more trust it gains from the search engines, and eventually… Lead to rankings

Share! Share! Share!!

Creating YouTube Content

Creating YouTube videos can also help your contents rank, you can create them and embed them in your articles, or upload them on your channel

These articles can get ranked too and lead more traffic to your site and increasing your site trust and appearance

Other Factors To Be Considered

These are factors that can determine why some sites may rank faster than others.

1. Site Age: The duration your site has been in existence can also determine when your site can get ranked

For example, a site that has been in existence for over 2 to 3 years will have better chances of ranking before one that is less than a year old

2. Site Trust: How much does the search engine trust your site? The level of trust the search engine has gained for your site can also influence your rankings

This kind of trust can be obtained by continues activities on your site, like consistent production of contents, engagements in your comment sections, frequency of production, etc.

Once the search engines know your site is very active, it can then begin to trust it more and more, which can increase your chances at ranking.

3. Amount Of Content: the volume of content in a website can also have an influence in determining which sites rank first

For example, if site A and site B both have all the above-mentioned qualities, but site A has about 400 articles and site B just have about 250, definitely the search engines will favour Site A which has more contents. Always remember, search engines love fresh contents

In Summary

>>>Use low hanging fruit Keywords

>>>Write quality content (include keyword once or twice & write naturally)

>>>Write your meta title

>>>Write your meta description

>>>Have at least one internal link

>>>Have at least one external link

>>>Use images within your post and Fill the Alt tag, remember to include your keyword

>>>Embed videos (optional but it helps)

In Conclusion

Ranking your contents may seem daunting at first, but trust us and follow all the above listed and you will see the results it would yield for you.

Remember there are other factors that also count to determine how fast this ranking can happen, but be rest assured that as long as you follow these steps, your contents will finally get those rankings.

Awesome content. Indexing in Google is a daunting task, especially for beginners. But once the post gets indexed on the first page, we become addicted to it and strive our best to get all our content on the first page. Once my post get indexed on the first place on the first page in Google, my content improves later on, but frequency of posting decreased significantly. Now, working on my blog frequency aspect as well.

Your post has wonderfully outlined all the aspect to get top indexing by Google on its first page. I agree Wealthy Affiliate and Jaaxy are provides powerful tools to get our SEO stuff right.

Thanks a lot for sharing this useful piece of information.

    You are very much welcomed..

Ray · May 3, 2019 at 11:30 pm

I really appreciate this post because it serves as a reminder of how important it is to follow the steps in order to rank on the Google search engines. There are a few things you mentioned that I will have to go back and adjust. I have not filled in the metadata and as you said, it’s probably better to do it yourself. Also, I will have to look into the external link issue. Affiliate links are external links, but I have posts with no affiliate links, so perhaps should be linking the posts to an off-site page. However, you don’t want to lose your visitors to another site, but there must be a way around it. Maybe an “open in another page option.”

An excellent post. Thank you for writing it!

    admin · May 11, 2019 at 5:30 am

Not really Ray, not affiliate links.

In fact, too much affiliate links will only end up hurting your site.

When we talk about external links, it’s more like referencing links leading to mostly authority websites.

For example, you use some stats on your article, you can easy link to the site where you got the stats from or linking to Wikipedia for some resources.

Virendra · May 3, 2019 at 11:38 pm

Wow, the part about checking google with your keywords blew my mind. Somehow I forgot to do this, and it makes sense that if there is an authority site on the page, it’s gonna be hard to compete with that… Thank you for bringing me something new I didn’t know about :D! What I’m also wondering about, how is traffic effecting your rank in google?

    admin · May 11, 2019 at 5:24 am

Yes Virendra, it”s always best to check out that keyword that feels like you just hit a gold mine!

You never want all your hard work to be in vain, if it turns out you are competing with authority websites.

Checking it out first, does give you the chance to save your self from that.

And when it comes to traffic, it’s a great boost to your Seo, as the more traffic you get, the more engaged your site is, and Google definitely loves that.

So yes, more traffic, better chances of ranking.

Owillz · May 3, 2019 at 11:42 pm

Thank a whole lot for this insightful seo post. Some of them I knew before now but some others I didn’t have any idea off before. But one point I found very interesting is the site age. I never knew the amount of existence your site has had online is also a factor to consider during SEO. That means it will be a good advice to search for expired domains that are related to your niche and build your website on them in order to pass the existence range test. That will be an acceptable way to walk around it right?

    admin · May 11, 2019 at 5:19 am

Hhmm.. About that Owillz, am not sure if it works that way, I think it has to do with how active your site has been within that specified period of time, which allows it to gain more trust.

Just looking up a previously existing domain…

I don’t know if it will make any difference.

But give it a try and let us know what happens.

Nathan · May 3, 2019 at 11:43 pm

This is amazing.  There is a lot of stuff here that is covered in the WA platform, but it’s not always easy to implement as you go.  Having it laid out like this is really simple and helpful.  I believe this article here is a must-read for anyone trying to create a traffic producing website.  Thank you for sharing this.  As it turns out I have far more to work on that I had previously thought, and now I feel I will be generating traffic in no time!

    admin · May 11, 2019 at 5:15 am

    Hi Nathan!

I am glad to read you find this article of great help.

    Best of luck..

I really loved your post. I am 6 weeks into my own website and I found some very useful information that I can use that will help me. You really explain everything in such a great way that is super easy to understand. There is a ton of great ways to really try to get your website ranked in Google.

As we know Google is the top of the mountain. I have already had rankings in Yahoo and Bing with lots of my posts, but I haven’t cracked it yet. I am going to follow some of your steps and hopefully soon it will pay off.

I would like to congratulate you on your site, it looks amazing! The way it is presented is very professional, looks very clean and is informative.

Thanks for sharing this helpful article. It is of massive help, as I have picked a couple of things I will need to look into.

Carole Francis-Swayze · May 4, 2019 at 12:20 am

Hello,  You have some wonderful graphics, and I loved the review of Jaxxy. Where I had a problem reading your first article “How to Get to Google First Page” was with punctuation and grammar. I would strongly suggest your having someone proofread your work. For example, some sentences need periods after them; one sentence was started with “which.” That’s a no-no. Some sentences were split into two lines,  making them look like paragraphs, etc. I got hung up on this and lost sight of the content. Also, do a spell check. In one article, you talked about the importance of sharing with social media. How do you do that? As a newbie to this whole thing, that’s a question I was left with. Also, where you talk about creating YouTube content, perhaps you could have an external link which connects the reader to one of Jay Neil’s videos on this very subject.  Regards, Carole

    admin · May 7, 2019 at 1:58 am

Thanks Carole for your insightful comment.

Everything you mentioned will definitely be looked into.

As for your question on how to share on Social Media, there are plugins that you can install at your WordPress back end, so that when activated, you can ways use them to share your contents directly from your site.
